Our community Service projects
Stafford Piecemakers actively participates in many projects that benefit Stafford County and surrounding communities.
STARS
Stafford Thimbles are Responding (STARS)
STARS quilts are made by our guild members and have been generously donated to benefit the Stafford County Sheriff’s Department, foster children residing in the Stafford community, assisted living homes and others.
Size specifications for those wishing to contribute a quilt: Unless a different size is specifically requested STARS quilts should be a minimum of 55” by 65” although they can be larger. Quilts may be machine quilted or tied. Please label the quilt “Made by Stafford Piecemakers Quilt Guild” Labels are available from the STARs committee
QOV
Quilts of Valor (QOV)
Stafford Piecemakers participate in creating and presenting Quilts of Valor for our community. A Quilt of Valor® is a quality, handmade quilt that is machine or hand quilted. It is awarded to a Service Member or Veteran who has been touched by war. The Quilt says unequivocally, “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.”More information on the organization is available on their website. Veterans can request, or their families can nominate a recipient on the Quilt of Valor Foundation website.
Donations
Our Guild is often contacted regarding possible donations of fabric. While we appreciate these generous offers, we have very limited storage space and at this time we can only accept donations of new, all cotton, quilting fabric with a minimum of quarter yard pieces.
